Botox Cosmetic®
Cosmetic Injectables are made from a purified protein that temporarily causes facial muscles to relax, softening lines and wrinkles and reducing the severity of visible wrinkles and lines at rest.
Wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process. With age, our skin gets thinner, drier and we lose elastin. The ability of our skin to protect itself is reduced as we age. Eventually, wrinkles, creases, and lines form on our skin.

Continuous muscle contraction is also another major contributor to facial wrinkles. Continuous muscle movement causes 'dynamic wrinkles' which only appear when the muscle is used.
Over time, if untreated, these wrinkles can become 'static wrinkles' which means they become permanently etched in our skin.
While the face is in motion the lines that appear are known as dynamic lines, however, repeated movement over time forms deeper lines and folds known as static lines.

Cosmetic Injectables work to prevent the formation of static lines by stopping the signal between the nerve and muscle.

The decreased movement in the muscle places less stress on the skin helping you maintain a fresh and youthful appearance. This treatment is most effective when used as a preventative measure.
Results
While Cosmetic Injectables are a relatively time-friendly and convenient treatment, it can take up to 14 days for you to see the full effect. Something to remember when you’re timing your treatment for a special event.

Side Effects
Depending on the sensitivity of your skin and any medications (like aspirin, ibuprofen, and other blood thinners) you may be taking, there is the chance of temporary, minor side effects including
- Mild swelling at or around the injection site
- Mild tenderness or bruising at or around the injection site
- Tiny red dots at the injection site
- A mild headache, depending on the treatment area

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the body. The hyaluronic acid in JUVEDERM® combines with the water in your skin to gently restore elasticity and tone.

JUVEDERM® contains pain-reducing lidocaine which can help reduce discomfort for patients during the procedure. There are a range of formulations designed to treat different areas of the face, and visible results can be seen shortly after treatment.
Side Effects
The most common side effects occur within 24 hours or immediately post-treatment. These include swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness.

You will also be counseled on post-treatment protocols regarding wearing makeup, and avoiding long periods of time in the sun, saunas, and UV rays and avoiding alcohol post treatment.
​
Immediate side effects usually disappear within days. However, depending on the type of Dermal Filler used, it can take a few weeks.
